YANGGEUM

Yanggeum is an instrument by hitting the iron strings that came from the western country, also called as Seo Yanggeum. Yanggeum usually played Hwangak and also fit to play with other instruments since it has small sounds and no trembling sounds. It can play with such instruments as Gayageum and Danso.
Yanggeum has a shape of a trapezoid, and unlike other instruments, it has a cover on it. The boy is made of paulownia tree while the cover has decorated with a tree that has smooth and red grain. Yanggeum has a total of 14 strings, and four iron strings become one string and have one note. However, it is using the strings made of copper. It is easily changing its sounds and length when the heat applied. Also, since it makes one sounds with four strings, if the note got twisted, it is hard to make the right note.

When the player is playing Yanggeum, they open their cover and put the body on it. Then sitting down in front of the instrument, and play it by hitting the strings. While performing the Yanggeu, weaken the fingers and wrist and hit the strings lightly.
