GUMUNGO

Gumungo is a string instrument by making its sound by flunking its strings that also called “Gamutgo” or “Gumutgo.” Gumungo is an instrument that was from Goguryeo. Also, Gumungo usually played by males, and the sounds are similar to the voice of males like strong and deep. This was performed by noble to calm the mind. This instrument also has extensive notes that can make different sounds. Its sounds have fresh and deep, and since this is to calm the mind, the first thing before they play is to have a good attitude of mind.
The front of the body used Paulownia Tree, and Chestnut tree for the back part of the instrument. Also, use silk thread for the strings. It has six strings on Gumungo and fixes it with the Gye. Gumungo has 16 Ghye and getting small and thicker going towards the end. Gumungo played with Suldae that used bamboo with a size of a span of an adult hand.


When the player plays Gumungo, put one side on the lap and using the right hand hold Suldae and either strike or flunk the string and with the left finger by pull strongly to change the note.
